Step Down Module: Electronic project needs power supply and in most of the cases, you will need to step down the input voltage. Example from 12V adapter or battery, regulate it down to 5V for USB powered devices, maybe for Arduino via USB. In some applications, you can step down the voltage from Solar Panel to charge Power bank too 🙂

Well, this L2596S adjustable buck converter will helps you. Comes with all necessary components to assist you in stepping down the Vin, it supports up to 3A (maximum) output current. The on board multiturn (high precision) potentiometer/variable resistor/adjustable resistor offers an easy to adjust method to change the target step down/buck voltage. You can easily adjust the output voltage with a flat screw driver or test pen.

This buck converter supports wide range of input voltage from 3.2V to 40VDC, and is able to buck/step down voltage to 1.25V~35V.

Note: This is a buck/step down converter, Input Voltage should be 1.5V greater than Output Voltage even it is adjustable.

According to L2596S datasheet, the maximum output current is 3A, but from our test, it can deliver 2.5A for around 10 seconds. But we do recommend maintain it at around maximum 2A output current. It will need additional heatsink if output current is more than 2.0A continuously.

Since it is switching module (SMPS, Switch Module Power Supply) and switching at 65KHz, it offers high power efficiency, maximum of 92%.

Note: The module comes without screw terminal for Vin and Vout, you will need to use crocodile clip or solder wire to respective pads. Please measure the Vout using multimeter and adjust it to desire voltage, only then apply the load.
